I Moved to Oxford as a Christian & Left an Unbeliever — How I Left Christianity (Pt.4)
I recently wrote a post where I detail my journey from Christianity and a lot of people benefited from it. So, I thought I’d write a more detailed account in the form of a series.
This is the fourth part of the series. If you would like to catch up and read the first post, here’s a link. Here is the link to the third post in this series.
Thus far, I traveled from Slovakia to Canada to study abroad at the age of 16 and am on my way to the South Coast of England, to Portsmouth, where I would stay for eight months until I moved to the greenery and old masonry of Oxford.
I also met CS Lewis’ secretary. That was something.
The room I walked into, right next to the chimney of The Trout Inn, was covered in Playboy magazines. Posters with naked ladies were everywhere.
For a conservative young Christian boy, I was intimidated. I was meant to be avoiding sexual temptation and here I was in a room was a cesspool of hedonism. Some posters were human size. And some were as small as wallet-size IDs.
I had a few roommates. One was from Montreal. An Australian replaced him afterward. Then the Canadian from Montreal came back.
