When I Moved to England to be a Cleaner — How I Left Christianity (Pt.3)
I recently wrote a post where I detail my journey from Christianity and a lot of people benefited from it. So, I thought I’d write a more detailed account in the form of a series.
This is the third part of the series. If you would like to catch up and read the first post, here’s a link.
Thus far, I traveled from Slovakia to Canada to study abroad at the age of 16 and am on way to the South Coast of England, to Portsmouth, where I would stay for eight months until I moved to the greenery and old masonry of Oxford.
I moved to Portsmouth on the South Coast of England to live with three of my closest friends from Slovakia on the 26th of August, 2014.
We took a bus because it was the cheapest way. It was 30 hours, through Austria to Germany, Brussels in Belgium, France, and then through the Euro Canal to London.
We had very limited resources at the time. One of my friends and I illegally smuggled me into a hostel, so we wouldn’t have to pay for two beds. Of course, they found out eventually.
But we went for it.
I wouldn’t pay for the metro and I would try to get away with rushing through on my friends’ metro pass. The pass was royally expensive, so it was quite fitting.
