The Ukrainian 2023 counteroffensive has not gone according to plans, if we were completely honest with ourselves.

Russian defenses had months to prepare, creating conditions in a battlefield unknown in modern history. Minefields permeate large swaths of territory, making key Russian positions effectively impenetrable.

To add to the endless array of minefields, treacherous terrain, and worsening weather conditions — winter is indeed here — Russians continue to bomb Ukrainian energy infrastructure as well as civilian targets.

Since Russia’s launch of the full-scale invasion, there perhaps was never a time when morale needed to be boosted more than there is now.

As a result, on Wednesday, November 30, Volodymyr Zelensky visited areas in southern Ukraine.

Here’s what you need to know.

“I know that every day you are losing your close people, your war buddies … You should know that everyone is aware that this is the highest price. That’s why I ask you to take care of yourselves.” — Volodymyr Zelensky
