Why is Russia Targeting Civilians? — Putin’s Real Objective

A pregnant woman killed.

A boy on his way home from school hit by a random missile strike whose purpose was far from its target.

A couple killed in a car on their way to do some grocery shopping.

This is Ukraine. This is what Ukrainians have had to live with.

In one part of the city, they sit at a cafe; in the next, a mother is crying over the dead body of her child.

It’s challenging to make sense of Putin’s artillery strikes precisely because there is no sense to them. Putin has purposefully targeted civilians to break their spirit. And by doing so, he’s proven that he knows nothing about the Ukrainian people yet again.

I have to admit that during some of the initial stages of Putin’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine (I am talking February and March), I naively believed that when the news reported on civilian killing in Ukraine, that it must have been unintentional.

“In what world would Putin try to take over Ukraine and purposefully kill civilians?” I thought

As the months passed and the news of civilians dying needlessly continued, it became clear to me that Putin and his generals were targeting civilians and residential errors as a scare tactic to dissuade…
