Why Christians Haven’t Solved the Meaning of Life & What Atheism Offers as an Alternative

I have been writing a lot about politics lately because of my work as a journalist living in Prague. But I don’t want to get away from my roots on political philosophy, philosophy, and other related topics — especially as they seem to still result in fruitful discussion.

In the end, fruitful discussion is what it’s all about.

So, I thought I’d take the time to contribute to the philosophical writing on Medium yet again.

In a lot of discussions I have had over the years with people of faith, I am usually told that atheists cannot find meaning in life because everything is arbitrary.

To me, it is this very randomness that gives us the freedom to discover life’s meaning in anything we value.

So, can we find meaning in life even though it ultimately leads to death?

Yes, we absolutely can.

Let me explain.
