We Are Enslaved to Intuition

Intuition is difficult to trace when expressing your own concerns & ideas, hence when arguing without credible evidence (from a “gut” feeling *cough* intuitively) it is nearly impossible to spot.

In order to understand what an individual says, you must access your limited experiences & find communal ground (lived experience) to discuss differences. You are only ever able to respond to claims with knowledge that you have had previous access to — in a way then you are completely dependent on others.

Dialogue seems to be the best source of understanding this intrinsic limit to knowledge. It is most notable when you are not completely aware of having formed an idea. The party talking to you is indirectly shaping your understanding.

This is however affected by an infinite number of phenomena, including how attractive that person is to you, how much comfortable eye contact you are sharing, whether you’re fatigued, etc.

So, your potential for knowing is tampered with by your inability to pay attention.

It is then very difficult to ‘know’ anything for certain. That is why it would be better to start speaking in terms of scales on how much we are certain of truths (from 1–10, for example).

Your potential for knowing is tampered with by your inability to pay attention.

I write to keep you thinking and to keep me thankful and reflective. Cheers and until next time,
