Very interesting! I have heard the New Testament scholar Bart Ehrman argue similar things.

I wonder why this is not mainstream knowledge? And why mainstream Evangelicalism has this blatantly distorted view of hell, despite the “scholarly prowess” of many of them from J.I. Packer, R.C. Sproul to people like John MacArthur. What do you think?
