The Fastest Path to Victory in Ukraine

Yale historian Timothy Snyder visited Prague two weeks ago to attend the Plus and Václav Havel Library conference titled “Borders of (Un)Freedom,” which I also had the great pleasure to attend. The next day, Snyder had an interview with Czech Radio journalist Jan Bumba.

They discussed various subjects, including the Republican nomination of Donald Trump for president, the potential effects of a Trump presidency on Europe, Russia’s war on Ukraine, and Snyder’s upcoming book On Freedom.

I published an edited version of their conversation for Radio Prague International. You can access that shortened version (approximately 15 minutes) here.

I also published a longer version for my blog, but it didn’t receieve too much attention, probably because of its length. So, I decided to publish a different shortened edition again with a focus on the US so it can hopefully reach more people. It’s on a number of important topics — and I’m sure you will all benefit from it.

I hope you enjoy.

The best chance of Russia winning in Ukraine is through the United States. Their shortest path — their only path to Kyiv — goes through Washington, DC, and they know that.

— Timothy Snyder
