The demilitarization of Ukraine especially, in retrospect, was quite the mistake, as it had much of the former USSR's nuclear arsenal and acted as an effective deterrent. So there I agree with you.

However, on an ideological level, at least, I believe in demilitarization. It is troubling that resources must be spent on defense, when we should be spending those resources on education, public goods, healthcare, etc.
