Russia’s 1,153 Jets vs. Ukraine’s 79: Can F-16s Change the Trajectory of the War?
In May 2023, US President, Joe Biden, said that the US military would support a plan to train Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 jets.
This would help transform Ukraine’s Soviet-style air force into a modern one.
The Ukrainian Spokesman for the Ukraine Air Force Command, Yurii Ihnat, claimed that these F-16s would grant Ukraine air superiority over “the occupied territories and reverse the course of this war.”
So, what would a Ukrainian air force with F-16s look like and could it reverse the trajectory of the war?
As a result of the probing attacks from Ukraine on Russian defense lines, Vladimir Putin once more threatened the use of nuclear weapons last Friday, 16th of June, 2023.
Russia argued that these countries would run “enormous risks” if they supplied F-16s to Ukraine.
As a result, Putin claimed that tactical nuclear weapons had now been deployed to Belarus and mused the possibility of using them if the war in Ukraine “threatened Russia’s territorial integrity.”
We have no real reason to think of this as more than just empty threats, as Ukrainians are used to by now.
