The 80th anniversary of D-Day, otherwise known as “Operation Overlord,” will remember the Allied soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy on 6 June, 1944.

World leaders are descending on Normandy on the 80th anniversary of D-Day at this important historic and political juncture to symbolise European solidarity against Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Among those present are the U.S. President Joe Biden, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and King of the U.K. Charles III. 25 other leaders will be present, including 43,000 officers, and more than a million visitors.

“When you look on the street you see military vehicles, when you look in the skies military aeroplanes, you see military camps, also with the people you see wearing suits and clothes from the 1930s and 40s. So, yes the atmosphere here is extraordinary.”

Balucha again speaking on the significance of the commemorations and the high turnout for the events:

“This commemoration you could say will be a summit; leaders will certainly reaffirm their support…
