Putin is Left Speechless?— On Russia’s Stoic Losses
How serious is the threat to Putin’s tenure as the ruler of the Russian Federation?
It’s clear that Ukraine has put Russian forces to the test in Ukraine; I discuss that in my latest post. But Russia is not ready to give up.
Referenda in eastern and southern Ukraine may be announced in the coming days toward the end of September in order to create further justifications for military engagement in Ukraine. Keep in mind that Russia still refuses to call this a war and instead adamantly uses the term “special military operation.”
But is Putin really surprised by Ukraine’s recent advancements?
Believe it or not, Putin is not the most extreme figure in Russian politics. Many are calling his leadership inadequate when it comes to recapturing Ukraine into Moscow’s previous (and much-desired) hegemony.
Among them is the Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, who has said that if changes are not made in the conduct of the military operation, “I’ll be forced to go to the country’s leadership to explain the situation on the ground.”
What pundits of Russian imperialism fail to realize — and grasp — is that the defeat of Russia is inevitable. Sooner or later, Putin will have to come to terms with the fact that there are not enough Russian troops…
