Prigozhin Speaks for the First Time Since Coup Against Putin

Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of Wagner, has finally spoken since his attempted coup over the weekend (June 23–25th, 2023) in the form of an 11-minute monologue.

He called this coup a “march for justice.” “We showed no aggression,” he said, but “were hit by missiles and helicopters.”

Prigozhin claimed that his 25,000 soldiers on their way to Moscow turned around to avoid the “spilling of Russian blood.”

Prigozhin’s remarks were largely boastful, as they usually are. But do they indicate Russia’s weakness? Is Putin finally losing grip on power?

What Prigozhin Said About His “March for Justice”

So, what exactly did Prigozhin say?

During his monologue, Prigozhin kept saying that in Wagner’s “March for Justice,” his troops did not kill a “single Russian soldier.”

He expressed regret over the fact that his troops had to open fire on Russian aircraft that were “targeting Wagner” — which, honestly, they most likely were.
