Oh yes, I respect your opinion and your call to defend it. To be honest, I have wrestled extensively with all the doctrines surrounding this topic from total depravity, perseverance of the faith, to limited atonement and so forth. I do of course realize this emphasis on works but really for me the abandonment of faith is an epistemological issue. When people discuss their Christian faith, I really think they are discussing separate things because very few have taken the time to even read the Bible in the first place, for example.
