My source for the statistics is The Economist, so I hope they are accurate.
The West has a difficult job of balancing support in a way that would not backfire at home. A lot of people are tired of inflation and will vote in pundits who are against the war if it ends up costing them in a way that is not sustainable. So, it’s a difficult tradeoff. I wouldn’t call them spineless in that.
I hope that your last prediction is wrong. It seems logistically right now, that would be difficult to achieve. And if it would happen, it would only be a matter of time until the regime was thrown off because of the expected protest and paramilitary groups that would no doubt overwhelm the puppet regime.
