Much agreed! Has Kotkin's work come out yet? Because I know he was working on it, but I forget if it was the second volumes. I'll have a look.

And yes, the focus is on Hitler, which is understandable, but Stalin inflicted unimaginable suffering on many more. That doesn't take away from the horror of Stalin and his disgusting antisemitism and the Holocaust obviously, but we should focus on the suffering and legacy of Stalin as well!
