Jeffrey, I think the problem is how certain you are of your case.
It’s very important to have an opinion, but you will always receive backlash with this black & white stance. I’m sure that on more reflection, you’d be slower to have such a strong opinion.
Motherhood or adoption can’t be the only options. It shows that males speaking into this really can’t fully comprehend what women are going through.
We would also both of us agree that women are not here just for motherhood. Being mothers is not the highlight of their existence.
The problem at hand is complicated. You mentioned philosophy. From a philosophical perspective, you will no doubt agree that the life of a woman is more important than that of a fetus.
I think that it is hard to disagree with this. In almost every case scenario, the life of the woman will be more important, unless she has suffered serious physical and/or mental damage.
If you agree with this premise, then you’ll be able to see that motherhood & adoption are not the only answers.
I am speaking here from a neutral perspective. I don’t think I can have a concrete opinion on this mainly because of ignorance, secondly because I am a male that has never been in similar circumstances.
I recommend taking a similar stance, & arguing from a neutral standpoint.
