Is Ukraine Underperforming in Counteroffensive Against Russia?
As Ukraine announced its counteroffensive, they have made steady progress, liberating a number of towns and villages. But some have highlighted that their counteroffensive is not going as well as it could.
Two areas have been the focus thus far: Bakhmut and Zaporizhzhia.
Ukrainians are also advancing alongside the Dnipro River, which leads all the way past Kherson City to the Black Sea.
Units have also made their way through Hulyaipole to Polohy in Southeastern Ukraine. But the most significant concentration of forces between these two advances, however, is toward Tokmak.
So, how has the counteroffensive progressed? And are Ukrainians not performing according to plan?
A week into Ukraine’s counteroffensive, things are starting to intensify. Ukraine has not yet committed all its forces to the advance, however.
So, we can expect more damage to come.
Nonetheless, both the Ukrainian and Russian militaries have intensified the use of troops in and around Donbas.
There are three areas Ukraine has seen significant developments thus far:
- Zaporizhzhia,
- Donetsk, and
- Bakhmut.
