Is Jordan Peterson a Nazi?
Jordan Peterson, the somewhat controversial and widely popular Canadian intellectual, has recently come into the public eye once more because of Marvel’s depiction of, what seems to be, Peterson in their recent comic.
Since then, Peterson’s daughter, Mikhaila Peterson, has released a statement on the ignorance of this accusation. Peterson has similarly addressed the “absurdity” of the comic.
The comic seems to contrast the “Red Skull” from Captain America, with Peterson-specific phrases like “Order and Chaos,” “The Feminist Trap,” and “Ten Rules for Life,” which is strikingly similar to Peterson’s “12 Rules for Life” (his 1st book).
But despite Marvel’s certainty on this … I don’t think we should be so quick in classifying Peterson as a Nazi.
Actually, I find this accusation ridiculous and absurd — despite my personal differences with Peterson.
It is by no means a new one. Conservatives often get misclassified as Nazis by people who know very little about political theory.
Let me examine, then, the political philosophy of Peterson and point out why Peterson, despite the insistence of many progressive liberals today, cannot be classified as a Fascist.
