I think that depends!

We wouldn't criticize Einstein's infidelity because it is irrelevant to his work. Similarly, Newton's discoveries in modern physics trump any idiotic spewing about alchemy or even God.

I think it's good to separate thinker from deed. They were all products of their culture in the end. Take what you can and rightly criticize the rest.
