How Can We Desire Something Better for Ourselves?

You can not choose what you desire, you are subject to your desires even when you are under the illusion of choosing them.

You can slowly manipulate your desires but they are often overridden with something much more primal, hard-wired, and repetitive.

Even if you think that in an ideal world you’d never be x, everything bad can happen in order for x to be your reality.

Reactions to emotions happen automatically.

A thought arises in consciousness, you have an emotional reaction to it, and then you act on it. Most of life, then, is fleeing from desire to desire.

We are constantly looking forward to the next thing and promise ourselves that when we get there we’ll finally be happy.

Needless to say, that is an illusion the mind generates.

Before you go…

I write to keep you thinking and to keep me thankful and reflective. Cheers and until next time,

keep reflecting.
