From what I know (& I’m primarily working with Western intelligence sources — aka concerns from the US), Russia has a very capable nuclear arsenal and the complete ability to deploy it.
Of course, intelligence sources and predictions are all we are working with at the moment. And these have been wrong in the past (no need to tell you that). They have been particularly wrong when it comes to Ukraine. Nonetheless, it’s better to be on the side of caution.
I don’t expect the threats will amount to much, however. That said, NATO is not about to enter the war, which is primarily because the members believe Russia is acting irrationally (also other reasons, of course).
