Foreign Policy Under Donald Trump vs. Kamala Harris — What to Expect on NATO, Middle East, Climate, & China
If you’re like me — and since I have the great pleasure of working in journalism — you’re glued to your screens figuring out what the likeliest outcome of the US election will be.
Depending on who you listen to or talk to, you get drastically different predictions. My conservative friends tell me there’s “no chance” the Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris, can win. Meanwhile, my liberal friends reassure me that “women turn out to vote more that men,” which can sway the election this year (in contrast to 2016, when more women voted for Trump).
Putting these discussions aside, for those of us who are watching the election from outside of the US, this race is also of consequential importance. The reproductive rights of our daughters, wives, friends might in our immediate circle might not be taken away, but the future of global climate change policy might be dampened even further.
So, I thought that I’d briefly look at four areas that I consider important in foreign policy and what their focus would be under Trump or Harris.
In particular, we’re looking at the following:
- The future of NATO
- Israel-Palestine Policy
- Man-made climate change, and
- China.
