Did Russia Attack Poland — What Now?
Arguably, the largest development since the beginning of Putin’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine occurred just a few hours before writing this.
Western intelligence sources report that Russian missiles crossed into Poland, killing two people, just 10 km out of the Ukrainian border in a village called Przewodow.
Poland has called an urgent meeting for national security and defense in order to calculate a response.
This is the first time the soil of NATO members has been targeted by another country since the alliance’s conception in 1949. The other time a country has been targeted was September 11, 2001, but it was by terrorist forces.
Was it accidental? Was it Russia? And what can Poland do now? Everyone has a lot of questions, myself included. Let’s briefly discuss what we know thus far.
To be quite honest with you, the attack seems to be accidental. It is imperative that we all remain calm as the Polish president Andrzej Duda urges. “We are working calmly and in a very calm manner,” he said.
The Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, similarly stated that we should remain sober-minded, but that Poland “decided to increase the combat readiness of selected units of the Polish armed forces, with particular emphasis on airspace monitoring.”
