Did Putin Just Kill Prigozhin? — What's Next in Russia?
Breaking news is coming out of Russia. As of now, we don’t know too much. So, a lot of the information may change. I will hope to update you as the situation develops.
What do we know?
The Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport has confirmed that Yevgeny Prigozhin, the mercenary leader of Wagner, was on the passenger list of an aircraft that crashed north of Moscow.
No one survived the crash. The three crew members as well as all the passengers have died.
This is big news.
It’s the largest development in Russia since the coup itself two months ago.
So, what exactly happened?
Before getting to what we know, for those who might not be aware, we should briefly outline who Prigozhin was — and why most of us were saying that he was a likely target in the months following his infamous coup.
For those who might need a refresher, the Wagner Group serves as a private military contractor, allowing Russia to engage in conflicts without the direct involvement of the Russian military.
Prigozhin was its leader.
