Czechs Refuse Energy Blackmail of Russia and China & Redirect Energy Policy
Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 was a wake up call to most European Union countries to how authoritarian regimes utilize energy blackmail or trade wars to influence foreign policy.
Since then, many EU nations have made costly — and important — changes to their energy grid in an effort to no longer have to rely on Russia.
Czechia’s Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, has indicated that Czech energy future relies in nuclear as well as renewable in the decades to come in order to curb the influence not only Russia, but also China.
Let me explain what changes they are making and how they are leading the way in relying on more trustworthy partners.
