Brexit Destroyed the UK — Three Major Reasons the UK Wants Closer Relations with the EU in 2025

Isolationism in politics has never really disappeared. There were always those who advocated for protectionist trade policy and against integration with neighbors.

However, in the era of post-Cold War globalism, we have seen more opposition to the notion because it did indeed bring out poor countries from states of abject poverty into prosperity. From South Korea to China, Taiwan, Singapore, and more, many have been exemplary cases of this trend.

The UK similarly fell into the trap of this trend. Politicians promised prosperity but that has still yet to manifest. In fact, the UK is significantly worse off now than if it was still a part of the EU, according to experts.

So, with the start of 2025 and Trump’s return to US politics, I thought it would be worth revisiting why the trend of isolationist politics is harming us; politicians prophesize a utopian promised land and instead isolate them and make them significantly poorer.

Let me explain.
