Biden Saved the Democratic Party by Withdrawing from the 2024 Presidential Race

US President Joe Biden announced he would no longer seek reelection as incumbent president in the 2024 US presidential elections. Instead, Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.

The announcement came on Sunday, following Biden’s poor performance in the presidential debate on June 27 against his Republican counterpart, former US President Donald Trump.

Analysts believe Harris will appeal more to women, people of color, and young voters, especially in key swing states like Michigan and Pennsylvania which could decide the election.

The Wall Street Journal described this development as, “one of the most monumental American implosions in history.”

Despite Biden’s achievements, it was great leadership for him to step down. The health of U.S. democracy depended on him realizing this and making this decision.

Biden might have just saved the Democrats.

He also saved the Democrats by having an impactful presidency. So, his legacy is worth touching on. I’d thought I’d write a brief post with some of the highlights.
