As with any work of philosophy, you have to first understand some key terms and be familiar with the general idea before you really get it. I’ve read Locke dozens of times and I only started understanding his concepts until quite recently.

Of course, this is a short introductory piece. I kept this at 500 words and I was more establishing “why” Locke wrote (the historical pretext and context) and not exactly providing an overview of his Second Treatise.

If you cannot find a thread in my piece, you must be very new to philosophy and Locke. I would recommend you start with a summary of the Second Treatise. That is not what I was doing here.
