500 Blogs Later — What I’ve Learned
I have been writing for some time. Over the years, my writing has been featured by several think tanks, such as the Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI), Disinfowatch, and EUROPEUM Prague.
Here on Medium, I have now written more than 500 blog posts. Much of them have been on the Christian right, separation of church and state, and the threat that populist governments make to the free world as we know it.
I have also written two books, which add up to 100,000 words, and have learned a lot from that process as well.
In all my writing, I have learned one primary thing: we are fallible reasoners and we should take ourselves much less seriously.
Let me explain.
In writing and reading over the years, I have learned that knowledge is extremely difficult to acquire in a way that can translate well to others. In other words, it is one thing to learn, read, and study; it is quite another thing to relay your knowledge to others in a persuasive manner.
In due process, I have grown a deep appreciation for skepticism.
My appreciation of the skeptical mindset mostly has to do with how quick I am to change my views on issues that were once of fundamental importance to me.
