Some have put the term ‘counteroffensive’ to doubt, claiming that Ukraine’s latest attacks are merely “probing” the frontlines and that the counteroffensive will come later with a more significant force.

But I believe that is just semantics. Practically, as most even in Ukraine agree, the counteroffensive has begun.

In this post, I will analyze some of the developments. Two weeks into the counteroffensive 113 sq km of territory have been liberated and about 4,600 Russian soldiers have been killed on the frontlines.

So, how are Ukrainians progressing in repelling the invaders?

The British military intelligence has said that both Ukrainian and Russian forces have endured heavy casualties.

British officials claim that Russian losses are presently comparable to the peak of March’s battle for Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. And Bakhmut has become the 21st century Leningrad (now known as St. Petersburg).

Ukrainians claim to have killed 4,600 soldiers. And Chris Snow constructively pointed out that there are an estimated 25,000 injured or captured Russians.

To remind you, Ukraine’s focus is on Bakhmut and Zaporizhzhia. However, Ukrainians are also advancing alongside the Dnipro River
